GADUATE SUCCESS NOMINATED FOR BEST NEWCOMER NCWE AWARD
Graduate Success was recently nominated for The National Council for Work Experience Awards in London.
Graduate Success were part of the ‘New Schemes’ Category (placement schemes set up in the last 2 years). We were up against Banardo’s, Calman Trust Ltd, New Charter Housing Trust Group, Portal Technology Systems Limited and Sky News. Anna Brokenshaw (Graduate Training and Performance Specialist) and Hanna Hopkins (Trainee Graduate Recruiter) our current placement student attended the awards which were held on the 12th March 2008 at the Café Royal in Central London.
The day provided an opportunity to network with a number of organisations including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Centrica, GlaxoSmithKline and many others. In total there were 9 award categories recognising both large and small companies for their time and resources spent on providing valuable work placements.
These category’s included Best Work Experience Provider (nominated by a student and by a Placement Tutor) Charitable Sector, Public Sector plus Short Term and Long Term Placements from an organisation that employs over 250 people.
Throughout the awards a guest speaker David Frost, Director General of the British Chamber of Commerce spoke about the importance of work experience; and how today’s graduate recruiters are struggling to find graduates with those all important employability skills. To end the day the awards were presented by Heather Collier; Manager of NWCE.
Unfortunately we didn’t win but are delighted in our first year of running a placement scheme to be recognised.
